The students and teachers of the Anglo Chinese School (Independent)’s ambitious attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most number of people performing the Bollywood Dance, ultimately paid off as the event was completed on the 29th April, 2009, with resounding success.
Notably, this event was an almost entirely student initiated and managed one. The dance steps were all originally choreographed by a few talented students, and the documentation of evidence to be sent to the official Guinness Book of World Records to verify the evidence, was also facilitated greatly by the schools own Photographic Society who were perpetually present to capture the sights and sounds of the entire record breaking experience. Many parents, teachers, and even friends from outside school were present to witness this sensational record breaking attempt.
Despite the pervading heat and the unbearable humidity of the afternoon that threatened to deter students from participating in the dance staged on the school field, students and teachers were nonetheless present, bursting full of enthusiasm and eager anticipation. In all, a sensational 1082 students and teachers successfully completed the dance, convincingly smashing the previous record of 314 people doing the dance. The president of the Singapore Book of Records was present to immediately present the school with the certificate for the Singapore record, happily been satisfied with the procedure carried out.
